My name is Deidre Samuels. I was born and raised in Toronto. When I was between the ages of 9 and 12 I was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. My mother describes me as a very humble child, even though I went through ups and downs, but one day I decided that I can contribute to this society. Having a disability should not stop you from doing the things you want to do! In high school, I decided to take art because I realized that was one of my passions. After high school I did not realize this but I was dealing with depression. I didn’t realize that until I was in my 20’s. At that point in my life I began to understand that I needed faith in something bigger than myself, that’s when I started my relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I became conscious of the fact that I could not live my life without my faith.
By the time I was 24 I became a resident at West Park Healthcare Centre. After 2 years I discovered YouTube. I did not start posting on my channel, until spring 2012. Around that time, I was just recovering from aspiration pneumonia and it was the time when I got the passion to start vlogging (video blogging) weekly. I started talking about my interests and my personal life. I now have three channels – one about my day to day life, the other is about fashion and beauty and the third one is about arts and crafts (youtube.com/deeboxer if you want to see my other channels scroll down to the bottom of the youtube link). Sometimes late at night I get inspiration for my three channels.
Lately I have become interested in also posting blogs. I’m not going to be your typical beauty blogger, some beauty bloggers tend to want to have big makeup collections, I’m probably not going to do that because makeup can go bad. If you want to know more beauty and fashion stuff check out my blog at http://swagforjesus.blogspot.ca/. When it comes to fashion, I’m going to be very practical, I will literally do fashion videos my way; affordable but still fun, trendy but modest.
